I’ve been keeping a bullet journal for over 7 months now. I’m learning a lot about myself. There are some habits that I’m really pretty good at like running, reading, and writing. And there are other habits I’m pretty terrible at like drinking water, meditating, and yoga.

I could continue to track the things that I’m terrible at. But it would just result in me feeling awful about myself. I would beat myself up. I would convince myself that I was the type of person who can’t get her sh*& together.

But that wouldn’t be true.

I just hadn’t found a system that worked for me yet.

I understand that making a few tiny good choices can lead to massive change. So I’m taking the things that I’m generally terrible at and offering them as OPTIONS. Instead of feeling like I HAVE to do them, I feel like I CAN CHOOSE to do them. I can sprinkle them in throughout the day. So I thought, why not call them “Sprinkles”? (Side note: I adore cute names. I always know the name of my nail polish color. Right now I’m wearing Essie’s Viva, Antigua!. Another side note: Antigua happens to be where I went on my honeymoon.)

My Sprinkles: Pushups, Planks, Yoga, Meditating, Cooking a REAL Meal, and Drinking Water.

And because I love to turn everything into fun and games, I’ve assigned points to these Sprinkles. 1 pushup= 1 sprinkle, 10 second plank= 1 sprinkle, Yoga= 1 sprinkle per minute, meditation= 1 sprinkle per minute, cook a REAL meal= 30 sprinkles, 1 ounce water= 1 sprinkle.

And then, the best part? I can earn Sprinkle Rewards!! (Because who doesn’t like rewards!!) 60 sprinkles= 1 piece of chocolate, 180 sprinkles= 1 glass of wine, 300 sprinkles = a cocktail, 300 sprinkles= a dessert.

And now, instead of thinking of these things as things I SHOULD do, I ask myself, “How and when can I fit in a few sprinkles?”
