Adapting to living the quarantine life is not easy. One day, early on in the quarantine, I had an enlightening conversation with my daughter at about 5pm:
I asked, “What did you have to eat today?”.
She replied, “A cinnamon roll, a burrito, and a glass of milk.”
“You have to eat better than that. You need more nutrients.” I responded.
“What have YOU had to eat today, Mom?” she asked.
“Hmmm… Four cinnamon rolls and a cup of coffee.”
And suddenly, I realized without a doubt, that I had some stepping up to do. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was time to take action. When it comes to cooking and nutrition, I feel like an acorn. I have so much growing to do.
I immediately signed up for Kris Carr’s Inner Circle Wellness group. Kris shares recipes, coaching, meditations, and more. Taking action is a game changer.
Recently, I realized that this group isn’t giving me everything I had hoped for. I get a ton of great information. But I don’t have a game plan for implementing it. I didn’t have a way to turn the information into actual habits that I can sustain. Once I noticed this gap, I could take action. I’m betting that my nutrition, and the nutrition of my family could improve exponentially if I made ONE little habit change. And that habit change that I’m betting on is meal planning.
I’m really not sure why I’m intimidated by meal planning. It seems so hard. But guess what? I know I can do hard things. I do hard things by taking it one step at a time. I also really like to dangle a carrot in front of myself. So, I’ve added meal planning to my sprinkle system. (If you haven’t read about my sprinkle system, you can find the blog about it here.) I can earn 30 sprinkle points by meal planning for just one day. The catch is that I have to have the plan in writing before the day starts, and then I actually have to follow the plan.
How about you? Is there an area of your life where you feel like you have a lot of information and knowledge, but you aren’t putting it into practice? What is one small step that you can take to move the needle in the right direction?
